Win2k hardware compression during backup
This is a discussion about Win2k hardware compression during backup in the Everything New Technology category; I am trying to back up data of Win2k server using HP SureStore 24 backup hardware. Did you try Backup Exc v8.6? I've had problems with the stripped-down backup exec included in NT OS'S (NTBACKUP) and hardware compression. Using the REAL Backup Exec fixed it for me every time. I'd say it's possibly a hardware problem. I'm not familiar with that Tape Hardware so it possibly doesn't support hardware compression...I seriously doubt that tho.

OP
I used Verita'as BackUp Exec, but it could only compress the data using its software compression feature, not the hardware one within Win2k
Added to this, according to the official HP manual the specific tape drive does support hardware compression 2*1.
P.S. Thanks for the reply!
