This is a discussion about Win2k Minimize/Maximize Window LAG *HELP* in the Windows Software category; Guys, I'm in need of URGENT help. As of less than a week ago, Win2k started giving me troubles with minimizing/maximizing windows. There's a noticable CPU lag during this time to the point of simply minimizing a window taking up 89% of the CPU.

Since that time of less than a week ago, I've formatted my C partition, reinstalled Win2k. Same deal. Tried again. Same deal.
I'm in URGENT need. Not only is this VERY annoying... I can't switch between windows very quickly. I need a solution to this mysterious problem asap.
Thanks..
By the way, the system Win2k is on is:
Duron 700
256 megs RAM
Abit KT7
The problem is more noticable among IE windows, but it also happens to Winamp, etc. And during these times, nothing else is eating away at the CPU to account for such problems. This really sucks. I can't diagnose it, either.

How many windows 'effects' do you have turned on? they are a waste of resources, so turn them off and see if that fixes any of your problems. It often pays to start with the simple things first.

OP
That's been done already.
As I said, I can't diagnose it.
..Anyone?

what video card do you have? do you have the latest drivers?
Tried turning off "Show Window Contents While Dragging"?
I had a prob in Win98 with the taskbar messing up with that enabled.

what version of the nvidia drivers do you have? you might try different versions, just to see if it makes any difference
Have you tried watching the Processes tab on Task Manager to see which process(es) are eating CPU time when you change window sizes? Also, are there any error messages in the Apps or System logs of the Event Viewer?
