Win98SE IRQ issues
Right now I am testing Windows 98 SE on a machine that has proven to be rather problematic since I got it. The Video card and onboard LAN insist on sharing IRQs,and this leads to a problem in wich the monitor goes blank for a moment, it does this a few times and then the entire computer locks up.
Right now I am testing Windows 98 SE on a machine that has proven to be rather problematic since I got it. The Video card and onboard LAN insist on sharing IRQs,and this leads to a problem in wich the monitor goes blank for a moment, it does this a few times and then the entire computer locks up. First I had W2K on it and after going rounds with it(and losing) I gave up and decided to see if I could use 98SE to solve my problem. Well with 98SE it is possible to set IRQs unlike in W2K, but whenever I manually set IRQs it will not boot past the Win98 screen. I have already added the memory info to the VCache section of the system.ini file(am running 1 gig of RAM). My question is, do certian memory-I/O ranges go with certian IRQs? I remember reading somewhere that Win98 is good about not booting past the Win98 splash screen on startup if there is memory issues. Anyways...any help someone can give me would be great.
