Windows 2000 and Windows XP setup options

This is a discussion about Windows 2000 and Windows XP setup options in the Customization Tweaking category; How do I change the default paths for the Windows installation folder from WINDOWS to something else for Windows XP? Also how do I specify a custom profiles path instead of the default Documents and Settings?

How do I change the default paths for the Windows installation folder from "WINDOWS" to something else for Windows XP?
 
Also how do I specify a custom profiles path instead of the default "Documents and Settings"?

Not sure on the install path, but for the docs and stes issue....tweak ui has the ability to change those settings

I don't think you can unless you did and unattended install and somehow included it in the script. It is not an option that I have seen in setup like it used to be in previous versions of windows.

It is all in the registry. If there is something you can't find in tweakui just start hunting through the registry with the search feature. If you mess stuff up in the reg it is a good learning experience also. The registry is pretty self explainitory it is hard to mess up if you just take the time to think about what the changes mean. For things like paths to mydocs or whatever it is pretty safe.
