Hi! A little late but anyway....
The problem of Windows 2003 server is that the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service is not installed and it's normal that you won't get anywere. There are two solutions (well maybe three if you count downgrading to XP) :

1. Download the apropriate Twain driver from the Canon Download Center e.g. : http://software.canon-europe.com/Cameras/Digital_Cameras/PowerShot_A52010167.asp
Ofcourse this driver will facilitate JPEG transfer only. That means that you're RAW images and movies will be left out. But hey, it's good anyway that you can transfer your pictures into your computer .

2. This is more adequate. You can install the Windows 2003 -XP conversion pack that, amongst other useful things does the WIA instalation. That way you can download all your data from the camera. You can download this from TCMAG : http://www.tcmagazine.info/articles.php?action=show&showarticle=204

Good luck!
