Anyways, I srugged it off.... then it happened again, but it was on another drive letter... drive G. So I read the message in full and it said data may be lost, may be a hardware problem.... all that jazz. So the computer was still running fine. I coudl play games, move files, open up everything but I decided to restart anyways to see if that would clear up the problem.
the computer got to the point where it would boot off the hardrive, and just sat there. I restarted, the hd light was flickering in a strange pattern over and over, then stopping and getting stuck at that same spot again. I waited for a while and it finally gave me the not a system disc error.
So what the heck happened? I dont think my hardrives are fried, because they still worked. To me, it sounds like a hardware problem with the ide channels! Was I right to assume this?
I went out and ordered an athlon 64 motherboard and processor anyways because I wanted to upgrade, but i figure this will solve the problem because it sounds like the ide channels on the motherboard were crapping out.
Thoughts?

ok, I ran home today in hopes of picking up a new mobo and all that jazz. Well, I ended up ordering it from newegg so now I have an athlon 64 system on its way!
Well, I drove back up to college and fiddled with the system. As I expected, the raid blew up. I dont konw why, it only detected half the drives..... it just doesnt work?
So I plugged my hardrives in my IDE channels (had my cd and dvd in those) and they worked. So the board works, just not the raid. I have a bazillion drives so I need every IDE channel I can get!
So basically I have a athlon 64, new mobo with 2 ide's and 4 RAID channels so I'll just have a different device on every different ide/raid slot.
