Windows Messenger: Preventing Auto login at bootup
This is a discussion about Windows Messenger: Preventing Auto login at bootup in the Windows Software category; Hi all, on my Windows XP Pro machine, I am having the issue of Windows Messenger always auto-login in when the machines boots up. I have already set the options in Messenger to not run at astartup and not be allowed to run in background, but still it always logs me in when the machine boots up.
Hi all,
on my Windows XP Pro machine, I am having the issue of Windows Messenger always auto-login in when the machines boots up. I have already set the options in Messenger to not run at astartup and not be allowed to run in background, but still it always logs me in when the machine boots up. The weird thing is that it just logs in, and people can message me, but the little application icon in the tray does not even load at startup unless I manually start Windows Messenger, but I am still getting logged in. Any ideas how to prevent this?
Thanks

run msconfig from the run or comand prompt
select "seclective startup"
click on the tab "startup"
make sure msmsgs is unchecked
You can also rename the executeable msmsgs.exe to whatever elese to prvent it from starting at all
its found the in the Program Files\Messenger folder on your system drive.
