windows root system32
I have a problem that has been posted before and has had some advice for correcting it, but in my situation I can not type anything. I get the message windows root system32/ntoskrnl. exe. is corrupt or missing.

I get the message windows root system32/ntoskrnl.exe. is corrupt or missing. I can't get to any window that lets me type in the repair information.
I even decided to take a major loss and use the recovery cd. After the cd was finished and the computer said recovery was successful to reboot the computer, it rebooted with the error message.
Is the hard drive shot, and if not did all my files get deleted?
I would appreciate any help for I am a weak stick when it comes to computers.

The message you are getting can come from a variety of things not the least that your hard drive has become corrupt. You get this message even if your windows login is messed up. It can also come from a windowsupdate that has in some way affected how the hard drive is read.
You will need not a recovery CD but a bootable CD for the operating system you are using. Boot from it and follow the prompts to attempt your recovery.
