Windows System Sounds

For some reason, I have lost Windows XP Pro system sounds (i. e. opening and closing Windows). If I go into the control panel and test my SB128 PCI card for the system sounds they work. Any ideas or suggestions on how to restore the system events sounds? TIA.

in your Sounds & Audio Device Properties (Control Panel), go to the Sounds tab and select Windows Default in the sound scheme list box.
