Windows XP/2000 IDE-CDROM detection

This is a discussion about Windows XP/2000 IDE-CDROM detection in the Windows Hardware category; I have an old Pentium MMX 200 (MoBo J-Mark 571B, Award Bios 4. 51 SiS 5571 Chipset) running Windows XP Pro. Every time I start up the PC, Windows installs new drivers for my secondary IDE channel, and the 2 CDROM drives on it.

I have an old Pentium MMX 200 (MoBo J-Mark 571B, Award Bios 4.51 SiS 5571 Chipset) running Windows XP Pro. Every time I start up the PC, Windows installs new drivers for my secondary IDE channel, and the 2 CDROM drives on it. This is a problem since it eats up my already limited resources, and prompts me to reboot. I previously had this problem when running Win2k as well. I tried switching the CD drives, removing each one... Anyone help?
