Windows XP beta 2 first time app install?
I have winme on my system now. I am going to install winxp beta 2 on a seperate fat32 partition. When it is installed, how do I go about installing programs that i have already installed in winme? Copy over them? Or do i not need to install the programs, just point to them in windows explorer and run them? Thanks.

Reinstall all programs on a separate partition. It is not a good idea to just point to them or install over them.

Reinstall my apps on a seperate partition? So my OUTLOOK 2000 (part of office 2000) needs to be completely reinsalled on another partition? That will cause me to re-setup my whole email. There isn't another way/
BTW - Would you recommend me keeping my ME just for games, and Internet / Web Applications / Office / ETC for WINDOWS XP beta 2?

Well I had win me for playing games and win2k for doing work related stuff. Now I just use winxp beta 2 for everything. I keep Win2k around for some programs and defrag purposes. And i keep win me around for running cracks and stuff that run in dos mode and woln't run in winxp.
I ask because. About a week and a half ago, I clean formated my hd, got rid of win2k.and put winme on. Now I have the xp beta, and a lot of my crap is installed in ME. I am thinking of unistalling office, and my internet apps (mirc, ftp stuff, etc) and my web page software, and just running that in winxp.
I am heavy into Flight Sim 2000, and that ran terrible in win2k. I doubt it will run that good in xp, but it runs great in winme. So that is why I was looking at using winme just for gaming, and XP for everything else. Wonder how many people run a setup like this out there.

With complicated programs like Office, I would have to agree with four and twenty and say to reinstall the apps on a different partition. You can, however, point Outlook to your PST file in the other installation and have all of your email in one spot between both installs. Can't say how it would work for stability, but I think it should be fine.

Yeah that sounds fine that is the way that I had it before but now that win xp runs all my games better than win me I never really use it anymore. Win me is good to have around for compatibility though so you might as well keep it. One of the main points of winxp is to be everything that me was and then some. You should test out you flight sim in xp you may be pleasantly surprised.
you can lock down xp just as much as 2k the privacy issue is a nonissue
yeah i don't have to tweak xp nearly as much as win2k and i get much better performance in xp.
