Windows XP hangs at startup

I have noticed my Home Edition of Windows XP to hang on startup. I log in and it either hangs then, or hangs when the desktop has loaded and I then can't seem to load any programs. This is inconsistently the case, however.

Check the event logs for something unusual.

Rightclick on my computer -> select manage. (there you'll find the logs)

OP
What is it that I'm looking for? What do you mean by unusual?

Eurimouse, why is that all of your posts show up in the Windows 9x/ME forum, when they are clearly Windows XP problems?

You'll probably get more help if you post it the Windows XP/NT/2000 forums, I wonder why your threads weren't moved there by the moderator either?
