Windows XP Service pack 2 crashing computers?!

This is a discussion about Windows XP Service pack 2 crashing computers?! in the Windows Software category; I installed sp2 a week ago and all since then my computer hasnt been the same, it crashes , internet going low-speed etc. Whats the problem? it should be all compatible! Help!.

ya i just hearrd from my friend that it bites cuz its a really bad upgrade and messes everything up

Sp2 hasn't caused me any problems. Neither has sp2 RC1 or RC2. Though, if a machine that was heavily infested with spyware/adware/viruses (virii) and other junk, then yes sp2 can cause problems.
 
From what I've read, SP2 was recompiled to perform faster. But, the typical generic user, probably wouldn't be able to tell.
 
I have no links to back this up. Something I read, while beta testing.
