Windows XP update gone bad!

This is a discussion about Windows XP update gone bad! in the Customization Tweaking category; I have an XP box and everything worked fine for a while (always the case with new OSes). But now Windows Update will not work right. I connect and it either says I need a new version of WU or it scans the systems, locates updates and downloads them.

I have an XP box and everything worked fine for a while (always the case with new OSes). But now Windows Update will not work right. I connect and it either says I need a new version of WU or it scans the systems, locates updates and downloads them. It fails to install any of the updates everytime!! Is there a way to fix this sh%t! Even when I try to manually download and install the updates it FAILS. Help.

There should be an option on the left-hand pane for the Windows Update Catalog. You should be able to manually download everything from there. The bad news is, you'll have to manually install them all yerself.

NO. Won't go near MS Betas after "the big DirectX" problem.

Sounds like you are not logging in with adminstrator rights. If you are running one of the Corp keys then it may be a timeout problem.
