Hi,

need expert help with the Windows.NET Standard Server RC1.

After struggling 24 hours to get into the MS downloadpage
betatesting is fun, but it would look much nicer without
the notice on the desktop: Evaluation Copy etc.

Having deleted 2 well known registry settings did not help.

Any ideas?

Anyone know a better way? Checking those options makes the ugly patches of desktop colour behind the icon titles (the removal of which XP *finally* made the Windows default. It only took those numbnuts at M$ 7 bloody years...) return and I don't want that...

Also, anyone know if its possible to enable hardware acceleration of Direct3D and DirectSound under .NET? I realise that it's a server OS and all but I still would like to know if its possible.

edit: n/m, I've figured it out.

Read my post. Locking the desktop icons brings back the butt-ugly patches of desktop colour underneath the icon titles (when using a wallpaper). XP has finally made removing these annoyances the Windows default and I'm not going to do anything that'll put them back. Now, is there another way of removing the Windows version from the .NET Desktop *without* bringing back those patches of colour?
