WinMe only half shuts down?

Here's the problem: I replaced a nic and since winme refused to completely shut down. All of the leds go off but the fans keep running. Any ideas what might be the problem? Thanks.

sounds like it's going into stand by mode instaed of turning off. You change any of your pwer settings? like wake on LAN/ring, etc?

OP
Nope. No changes at all. Not in Bios, not in WinMe

Do you have anything plugged into your USB port. If so try booting without it plugged in and see if it shuts down correctly.

If there's nothing plugged in, temporarily disable the "USB Root Hub" in device Manager and test shut down..

I've come across certain chipsets (namely VIA - even tho they are good) to have issues with USB.

The answer is because ME is a half-a$$ed OS that MS just released to go through the product cycle.
