lol i own a voodoo 3 2000 pci also and i would get it out of my computer right now if i had the money right now to buy a new video card like a GF 3 or GF 2 ultra but since i dont it does fine for now but i for sure want a new video card inless i dont game hehe.
but i do game.
i will be happy to throw it in the garbage if someone gave me the money but that aint happen right now. i know it isnt that good of a video card anymore but it does fine for now.

I wouldn't say to toss it, but the Voodoo 3 line is no match for any GeForce. Yes, it does work in XP, however, and coming from a 3dfx fan, the Voodoo 3's are past their prime. Get yourself a GF2MX card unless you don't want to upgrade for 2 years, then spend the money for a GF3 and be done with it.
Keep the V3 as a backup card, since they do the job in a pinch. Plus, being a PCI card, you still would have something to work with if the AGP goes out, or someone has a mobo with no AGP (like ones with the i810 chipset).

The Pro is cheaper, but the Ultra still needs to drop a little.
However, if you want to go all out, and have the money, just drop the cash and get a GF3 and be done with it.

Yeah, they tend to release something new every 6 months, so you could always wait for that, but then again, technology is always advancing, so there will always be something bigger and better right around the corner.
With my Voodoo 3, the first game to really start showing the Voodoo's age is Serious Sam, but this is under 2k. Nvidia is probably the best bet right now, basically because they have new drivers out like every month.
If you don't want to spend alot for a card, grab a GF2 MX card as right now they are plenty for decently high resolution at 16 bit.
I'm personally waiting for the Kyro 3 to surface, which is supposed to add hardware T&L to the Kyro II, and it should be relatively cheap and perform close to the GF3...unless the drivers suck, like some other video card manufacturer.

Yep that is true. Cause then you be waiting and waiting and never buying. I think i am a gamer but sorta not a hardware gamer. But i have played Serious Sam on my voodoo 3 2000 pci on win2k pro. It wasnt bad at all. Didnt freeze up any to load something but just worked very smooth. Yeah i do here the GF2 MX is a good card. I was going to get a Kyro II till i heard all the compat. issues and low scores people got in benchmarking it themselfs. But the cool thing i like about Nvidia cards right now is that they got as good as win2k driver support as 98. Games in win2k run as fast as in 98 if not faster in 2000. But i know sometimes they do run alittle slower.
