WinXP Pro Win Update Registry Key Deleted
This is a discussion about WinXP Pro Win Update Registry Key Deleted in the Everything New Technology category; OK, I'm not so smart! For the first time in many, many years I deleted a registry key without, of course, first backing it up. Now, for the past several months, every time I start my PC I get the pop-up message from Windows telling me to install an update (which I've done repeatedly).

The only part of the key I vaguely remember is "wind" something. I've searched the registry on a friend's computer which runs Win XP (not Pro) and could find nothing with "wind" in the string.
Anyone running Win XP Pro SP 3 and has a key with "wind" in its name/string?
Help appreciated.

OP
Noting my question has not received any replies I wonder...
Was it a stupid question, did I word it incorrectly, or does my stupid deletion of a registry key have nothing to do with why I continually (upon boot/reboot) receive a Windows Update message?
I've posted this inquiry on a few other sites and, as here, have never received a reply. Just wondering....
