Wolf (sanctuary woods) on Win XP
Yeah, remember that old DOS game back in 1995? I was wondering if there is any way it could work on Windows XP. Ochiba.

Download this:

and when you run the program and get to the c: prompt with it, type this to enable local/real cd-rom access.
mount d: H:\ -t cdrom -ioctl -usecd 1
replace the H:\ with the letter of your actual cdrom drive in windows XP. Then Wolf works just fine.

I can't find the game anywhere except UnderDogs.org and obviously that doesn't come with a cd... so how can I get the ripped version to work on my windows xp??

I've been trying this as well for the LION game. I have the cd, but that DOS emulator is just giving me a hard time. I can get into D:\LION , but I can't run the .exe file necessairy to play! Any suggestions or advice for a totally confused newbie?
Emulator won't help with Wolf. You have to turn off music and sound effects(unless you want hear beeps or own said sound cards) via setup.exe if you want it work.
Wolf and Lion both work finely in XP, except Wolf had nasty side-effect: after three hours playing, it changed desktop colours to 4-bits, because it obviously uses less than that.
And about mating... You have to just count days. (It is good way to keep old calendar beside you and count changing of the moon.)
Two weeks before winter changes to spring, it is time to try. When you face female/male wolf and choose "do you want to mate?" (You both must be on Alpha position, no less) instead baring fangs, other wolf comes and nuzzles you, alike humans hug.
I've succeeded here only once and played male wolf, so female wolf didn't moved inch, but lie near den, going only feed herself. After 60 or so days, you must name cubs that are born.
You may ask about me via MSN, yakuzakyuu@hotmail.com. I've played Wolf since my childhood(being 20 years old now).

Okay... I seem to be running into a problem with Sanctuary Woods' LION. I installed it, and it runs at the startup, but when I click using the mouse, the screen turns blank and the lights on my monitor (to adjust the different screen sizes, etc)blink... Any clue what's causing it? I'm thinkin it has to do with the resolution or something.
Okay I got wolf to work with VDMS. But when you actually get to play the game the graphics are way messed up. It has lines all through it! Anyway to fix this?
Also I tried wolf and lion with the dosbox but I tried to type in that command but it says illegal command or something... How do I get Lion and wolf to work with dosbox? I actually have the real Lion CD rom...

Okayokayokay, to get ripped DOS games to work with DOSBOX, first you have to make a folder somewhere on your root hard drive directory, whose name is DOS.
So, say you make a folder on your C:\ drive named DOS, and within the DOS folder is the folder named WOLF, containing all WOLF's game data and such.
Start up DOSBOX, and type this:
MOUNT C C:\
C:\
this will make your C:\ drive the active one so then you can type the location of the game folder with CD in the front of it, which is in this case:
CD DOS\WOLF
this makes the WOLF folder the active one, after you have done this, you can run the game .exe file, which in WOLF's case is just named WOLF.exe; in the case of another game it might be called something different, and it pays to check what the .exe is before you start so you have something to run once you have made the game folder active. So, to run wolf from here, just type
WOLF
and it will run.
Im sorry if this wasnt too helpful, Im not very good at explaining things ^^;
