XP activation
This is a discussion about XP activation in the Windows Hardware category; I just installed my new MB and CPU out , and had to reinstall all my stuff. Needless to say I had a problem activating my windows xp products. Anyone else had this problem? I was on the phone with MS for like 3 hours.

No. I have a legal copy that doesn't require activation.
Bummer man.

OP
LOL
I bought mine,
I really do try to be legit.
But talking to an impatient MS rep for 3 hours isnt very fun.
I mean I'll buy another copy, cause all the left over parts I'll need one for my lan rig

when I got my new system up I had to call microsoft to activate windows xp. only took a few minutes to verify everything.
The "test phone call" I made lasted all of about 3 minutes.
I only phoned up to see what the experience was like as I needed to compile a report on WinXP and more specifically the PA.
3hrs??
So, what exactly were you chatting about for all that time, the weather?

Same here, installed new mobo & CPU, had to reinstall XP. Phoned MS, took no longer than 5 minutes - when they asked why I was reactivating, I told them the reason, they seemed happy with that.
What axactly was the problem that took 3 hours to solve? It sounds like yours was an abnormal experience, not the norm!
