XP and No Mouse

Hi, I have Windows XP SP2 and I'm having serious troubles with the mouse. I can't use it. Windows loads normally but the mouse pointer is frozen. The buttons don't work either. I have two mice. The primary one is a PS/2 port mouse and the another is an old COM port mouse.

Hi,

I have Windows XP SP2 and I'm having serious troubles with the mouse. I can't use it. Windows loads normally but the mouse pointer is frozen. The buttons don't work either.

I have two mice. The primary one is a PS/2 port mouse and the another is an old COM port mouse. I also have a "plug" for the PS/2 mouse so I can connect it to COM port. I've tested all possibilites, but the mouse don't work. Neither.

You could say that both are broken, but if you go Control Panel > Mouse and choose the last tab of four, where you can see the mouse driver info and properties, it's empty. So there's no mouse drivers installed.

Now, this problem started yesterday. I tried everything I could but no luck. So, I decided to format my HDs and re-install Windows XP. Didn't help.

So what is the problem?? Did the PS/2 and COM ports suddenly die? I have no probs with keyboard which is plugged into PS/2 port also.

I'm clueless.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you in advance.

PS. As you probably noticed, my native language isn't english...

Have you gone to the maker of the mouse and gotten the newest mouse drivers and installed them?

P.S. You type(speak) better english then quite a few that come here looking for help and english is their native language.
