To my further surprise, sound worked too! Without the need for a 3rd party app! However, due to my impatience, I thought a long pause was a lock-up, and i rebooted...now, I have lost the ability to run sound again.
Any experiences?

Be sure to set your game with Sound Blaster (pro) Base Address 220, IRQ 5 DMA 1 for FM sounds and General Midi Address 330 for music.
The sound emulation in XP is very inferior to VDMSounds. Although XP seems to run BUILD (Duke3d/Blood/Shadow Warrior) engine games just fine with sound. So you'll really need both programs to play games under XP for the full gaming experience. Hopefully Vlad can get BUILD engine games working with sound under NT4/2K.

OP
I tried VDM, but it crashed before the game would load with a flashing cursor.
I am probably setting it up wrong...any input?

Nope. VDMSound doesn't work with BUILD games using SFX very well if at all. You must use XP's sound for BUILD games. Test between XP & VDMSound however and you'll see that VDMSound supports alot more games/emulation.
Namely DMA 5/Joysticks support/Adlib/Roland/Better SB emulation on the whole. It's nice that XP supports BUILD games I really love that for I have been pissed off about not being able to get sound in NT for Duke for a looooonnngg time.
