Hello all
Hope you can help me out on this on.

Just bought a new mainboard
asrock k7s8x with SIS 746fx chipset
amd 2400+
512 pc2100 ddr
geforce mx4000 128 ddr
creative audigy 1

After putting all the hardware together things look ok, in the bios.
Then i'm installing windowsxp..and still things go great(checked the compatibility list)

Now after a new reboot when xp is completely installed, as soon as i start using my microsoft optical(usb) mouse, the whole system goes beserk!!!! ;(

Without clicking but only moving the mouse al kinds of apps
start running and opening (sometimes 20x)..i am unable to do anything

I tried al 6 usb ports and xp detects and recognizes the mouse without any problems...

Does anybody has any idea(accept buying a new mainboard)!!!!

Did your mouse come with a USB-PS2 adapter? Have you tried that?

I was going to make a similar suggestion. If you do have a PS2 port on the motherboard and you have a PS2 mouse, have you tried that?

The problem is solved

Two issues:
On this asrock mainboard the usb jumper setting is by default (it's on 2-3 should be on 1-2 )wrong so i had to adjust this contacted asrock for this.
This fixed the problem untill i installed, my advanced graphics drivers form ASUS for my GF mx 4000
SH*t hit the fan again...so these advanced drivers seem to have an impact on this system also .
Now everything runs smoothly, thanks for all your input

I have to say that asrock motherboards are not so good,my friend bought the computer with that mb.
What can i say, he had a bunch of problems with sound, lan, overcloacking etc.
That is a normal low end mb and my advice for you is to change the mb try to find some nforce2 mb od at least kt600 mb
