XP installed, but wouldn't format over W2K :(
This is a discussion about XP installed, but wouldn't format over W2K :( in the Windows Software category; I bought OEM XP pro to install over W2K. Somehow I've ended up with both OS on the drives. Maybe when it gave me an option to install over the existing OS (option L), I missed it. I'm not sure. W2K doesn' respond, and I can't get to any options that will allow me to reformat the drive and start over.

How do I wipe this drive clean and start over??

Get a Win 98 boot disk and run FDISK and delete the Non-Dos Partitions or get hold of DELPART tool to remove partitions or something like Partition Magic to remove partitions.
it sounds like you tried to install XP after it was already booted. boot from the cd rom
