XP not finding LAN workgroups?

Hi everyone. I'm on a simple LAN, that I connect to using a small 4-port 10BT hub. I have 1 Windows Me machine, 1 Windows 2000 machine, and 1 Windows XP machine set up on this LAN, all under one workgroup called pearljamrox.

Hi everyone.
I'm on a simple LAN, that I connect to using a small 4-port 10BT hub. I have 1 Windows Me machine, 1 Windows 2000 machine, and 1 Windows XP machine set up on this LAN, all under one workgroup called "pearljamrox". For some reason, the Windows XP fails to see all other workgroups on the LAN, even though the windows 2000 and windows Me machines do with no problem(s) whatsoever!
NOTE: I have the following protocols and/or services installed on the XP machine:

TCP/IP
NETBIOS
IPX/SPX
Client for Microsoft networks
File and Printer Sharing
QoS Packet monitor

NOTE: I am NOT on a domain or anything funky like that! just a simple WORKGROUP. Like I said, the Windows Me and windows 2000 have no problems at all! The Windows XP one does!

Sommeone please help!

Yes they are. This is not the problem though. The windows 2000 /Me machines can see and connect to other workgroups (for instance, the Ewu workgroup). ONLY the XP machine suffers from not "seeing" such workgroups under "entire network/Microsoftg Windows Netwrok"!

Please re-explain! As you know I am no networking expert. You totally lost me with the THOR/APK and HERCULES/APK example dude. If you would be kind enough to explain to me sloooowly and in "dummy" detail, I would be mich obliged. I'm still new to this "old" machine name business. I DO know what a workgroup is, but i don't understand the idea behind adding the machine NAME (not a user) to the XP machine. Please explain for a dummy like myself! :):

Unfortunately my hands are tied right now. I just upgraded my motherboard, processpr and RAM to an Athlon 1.4GHZ. Apparently for some reaoson I can no longer boot Windows AT ALL! All I CAN boot is Linux Mandrake 8.0, and I don't know what kind of built in LAN card I have, so i can't really configure linux to connect to the internet. SO I am reeeeally sc**wed! TO add to the problem, my motherbaord thinks the processor is a 1GHZ processor not a 1.4GHZ, so I am triyng to figure out a way to get a BIOS update and see if that helps. Of coarse, since I can't boot to windows, I can't really download a BIOS update! If i get linux to connect, I MAY be able to download the update and stick it on a floppy disk.
Anyways, to keep it short, I can't touch windows XP's network setitngs just yet. Chances are I'll have to format/fdisk all over again! Wish me luck!

I'll check it out sometime. I'm really busy with college work right now. :-( Thanx though!
