Xp on my pc..can't boot up

Hi troops. . man what a day. . trying to help a friend with this pc and whew. . Presario. . XP system. . won't boot. . just logo. . tried everything I know. . still nothing any ideas?//.

Are you trying to install from a bootable XP CD?

If it used to have '98 on it, it's best to format the HDD first, which is best done from a bootable '98 floppy.

After formatting with the '98 floppy, then install XP.

BTW, how much RAM does he have?
