XP Pop-ups on taskbar, turning them off

This is a discussion about XP Pop-ups on taskbar, turning them off in the Customization Tweaking category; How do I turn off the stupid, annoying pop-up messages on the XP taskbar, such as the take a tour, or low disk space, etc. . . They are exceptionally annoying. Thanks.

Well that is not very helpful, everyone can ignore it. I'm sure there is a way to eliminate them. Perhaps I will take some time to look.

Powertoys Tweahui for WinXP will get rid of the low disk space one,
I can get rid of the tour, but I can't remember exactly how, but, it could be right click on the icon and, IF I remember correctly, you can get rid of it there.

I'm not sure this is exactly what you want to get rid of but this is a registry hack (Microsoft approved) to rid you of some messages:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
Right-click the right pane, create a new DWORD value, and then name it EnableBalloonTips
Double-click this new entry, and then give it a hexadecimal value of 0
Quit Registry Editor. Log off Windows, and then log back on.

To get rid of the Windows Tour bubble, simply click it so that a window for the tour opens, then hit cancel in that window - sorted.

Tools / Folder Options
Click the View Tab
Remove check next to "Show pop-up description for folder and desktop items"
