XP prof connecting to NT40 server
This is a discussion about XP prof connecting to NT40 server in the Windows Networking category; Hi. Anyone had any problems connecting a XP prof box to a NT40 SP5 server? NT4. 0 is just using workgroup, no domains. DNS and Wins is OK, and I am able to ping the NT4. 0 box by IP and N/W name just fine.
Hi.
Anyone had any problems connecting a XP prof box to a NT40 SP5 server?
NT4.0 is just using workgroup, no domains. DNS and Wins is OK, and I am able to ping the NT4.0 box by IP and N/W name just fine. However when I got to seach for the NT server, nothing is found.
Other W2K boxes on the same network are found fine.
My XP box is on a different network segment from the NT box.
Any idea's?

Search as in how? and why isn't the NT4 Server using Sp6a?
OP
Search as in right click on network and select "search for computer"
The NT box is running SP5 because it is not my server, hence I have no control over SP level
In any case I have sorted the problem now. I needed to reenable netbios over tcp for me to be able to see NT4.0 machines.
