XP / SERVER 2K3 SERVICES COMPARISON GUIDE?
This is a discussion about XP / SERVER 2K3 SERVICES COMPARISON GUIDE? in the Customization Tweaking category; Anyone got a XP / SERVER 2K3 services comparison guide? I like the fact that 2K3 is SLIMMED down but, I *need* the compatibility of XP. In short, I'd like to uninstall and/or stop services from running in XP that don't run in 2K3.
Anyone got a XP / SERVER 2K3 "services" comparison guide?
I like the fact that 2K3 is SLIMMED down but, I *need* the compatibility of XP.
In short, I'd like to uninstall and/or stop services from running in XP that don't run in 2K3. Anybody got a list? I don't have time to compare both XP and 2K3 on my own.
Thanks a bunch.

There are different default settings for the services in Win2k3 depending on the server edition (Standard, Enterprise,Datacenter, Web), but maybe this link can provide the information you want:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtec...lt_settings.asp
Though I would probably go for service guide made for WinXP like this one:
http://www.blkviper.com/WinXP/servicecfg.htm

Awesome advice.
Looks like I'll be busy this weekend but, nonetheless, it sure seems informative.
I appreciate it!
