XP SP1 question

After installing SP1 it shows an icon in my task bar when I hover over it it says it is now safe to remove this item and it list my usb items. Any idea how to remove that icon. .

but seriously
usb storage devices have always shown up with that little icon
it's so the write-behind cache will flush
(kinda like the nt4 prob with manually ejecting a zip drive and losing data)

Prior to SP1 that Icon would only appear after I plug the device in then disappear after a few seconds now it never disappears it always there is there a way to keep it from staying

ahh there is a way
hide inactive icons, thats how i get rid of mine

I have that enabled that.
The Icon was never there that long and never became part of the hidden icon list before SP1. I.m just trying to figure out if they changed the way this worked and if so how to remove the icon.
