Roaming profile hell

Any one know a trick to prevent roaming profiles from getting onto particular W2K machines? I'd like to see a user with a roaming profile be able to logon to a public PC without dragging all their crud onto it and then be set as a local profile to prevent trouble roaming away with them.

problem playing .avi movie clips

I down loaded a movie clip. . . . . movie. clip. ts. and when I try to play it, I get the location cannot be opened error. What should I do? I have the latest The Playa codec from I have tried burning the clip on a cd and running it from the cd drive and nothing.

High Colour Taskbar icons

Does anyone know how to make the icons near the clock high colour like on Windows ME and Windows XP. On Windows 2000 they seem to be in 16 colours. Any registry entry to fix this. Ash.

This is becoming a real pain in the *** with XP / 2000 on a dial-up Is there any hack or work around for this in XP/2000? 98SE never had this issue but if you get a lock-up requiring reset or auto reboot, all the cached images in the temp internet folder,(going back weeks), are all lost, or at least they need to be ...

I got a new motherboard for my computer. I have Windows 200 Pro installed already. When I start my computer up it says Check for virus on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers.

Hi, I have a diamond monster voodoo2 card installed w/ updated drivers on win2k. It is running through an ATI 3D Rage II+ PCI card. I just recently install directX 8. 1 but it doesn't recognize the voodoo2.

win 2000 logon error - help...

I installed Windows 2000 and the system could not log me on because I forgot the password. Is it possible for me to change the password? I tried CTL-ALT-DELETE so I could change the password but it just doesn't do anything.

I have windows XP and I am using EZ-CD Creator 5 Platinum and when making audio CD's, I was using track-at-once when ready to record, but it seems to hang up before I get to the last track, and of course it does not get to finalze the CD, and CD is ruined.

Dazzle Video Creator 80 Problems

I just bought this today, it is called Dazzle Video Creator 80 and it is a video capture device, captures video from camcorder, VCR, etc. It states it will work on Windows XP which I have, but the sound runs very fast, while the video seems ok, I am recording off camcorder.

Hi all. I've got a friend with a Celeron-500 CPU on a SOYO motherboard based on the discusting chip Apollo Pro of VIA. The specific motherboard was actully discontinued because as you already know the chipset was a nightmare for all users.

Hi guys, I noticed that when in Address bar, we type a name that matches something in our favorites, it shows favorites automatically. However, if my favorites is inside a folder in Favorties\. . , it wont do that for it.

I just went from win98 to w2k and did a fresh install of it. right from the start my boot HD is always doing something, but I dont know what. if I do just things that normally wont require loading in win98 the drive will load.

winxp ntfs and win2k ntfs compatibility

If i'm not mistaken win2k uses ntfs 5 and xp uses ntfs 5. 1. I had xp installed for a while with my 2 drives in ntfs. But i switched back to 2k => drive1 = ntfs 5 and drive 2= ntfs 5. 1 2k seems to be able to use the second drive normally.
