URL / IP blocking in Win2K ?

Is there a way to block access to certain URL's & IP adresses in Win2K by foraging in the registry or something? I want to use this techique to block against adservers ect. . I don't want to install 3rd party programs and stuff if it can be done mauallly in 2K.

Dialup Connection Tweaking...

What are some good ways to tweak my dialup connection under win2k? I use internet connection sharing, so as long as it doesn't effect that, then I'll be happy =) I am using a USR 56k V. 90 modem. Does messing with your MTU settings etc really make much of a difference? Any info would be appreciated!.

Windows XP taskbar changes on powerup or reboot

I recently installed Windows XP Pro on my machine. Whenever I powerup my machine or even do a reboot, the taskbar is not normal it is gray, and plain. Usually the start button is green with the windows logo, and the bar is blue, etc.

I upgraded from w2k to xp pro. I was using iis 5 & pers web server in w2k. Upgrading, the program upgraded to to a newer version of iis & no pws. My main web files work fine, but my sub-web which is an asp.

I'm afraid this is about the nearest heading for this particular enquiry. I'm using Win2K Pro/Sp2 on a standalone machine. Initially, after OS installation, I noticed some serious errors logged in Event Viewer.

I have Fast User Switching set on wifes pc,and have 3 users and a admin account on the pc. . lately it has started acting wierd. if u have someone else logged in. . and u use the fast switching. . it wont let u login under any other users until u log off account thats logged in.

When the password box is displayed on startup in Windows 2000, it uses the Windows Standard theme, is there any way to change this to another theme? There must be some registry hack. .

Hi all, i was wondering if you can set windows media player or winamp to run as a scheduled task, and autoplay as well when it starts. I want to use this as a kind of an alarm clock. I can't find a command that will autoplay the music file/CD on either programs.

I have an Athlon TB 1. 333, Win 2000 Pro. I'm having hangups when starting. Sometimes it's okay, sometimes I have to reset or power down a couple of times before the thing boots fully. When it does stop, it's at the white screen with the blue progress bar.

Low VR minimum setting warnings

When I go to stutdown I get the following message. Windows-The minimum Virtual Memory Setting is too low. Try increasing the paging file size. I have done nothing to cause this and do not understand why it happens.
