Updated Slipstream Guide

DosFreak
1. Make a folder on your C: drive. Name it the same as that of your CDROM. Ex: W2PSEL_EN 2. Copy the Windows 2000 CD to the folder. 3. Download Service Pack 1 from here: 3. When download is done copy sp1network.

os

steveo69
After encountering some problems with my os win2000, I decided to install win2000 over the top of the last. My problem is whenever I boot it is asking which operating system to start. How do I get rid of the first with the problems on it, that problem was to do with SCVHOST.

Reformatting and NTFS

jwl812
Can I just reformat a FAT32 drive and install Windows XP fresh using NTFS? Someone told me I would have to erase the disk first. Since formatting doesnt erase the format, info and partitions a possible conflict could arrise from a FAT32 disk being reformatted with NTFS over it.

NTFS without the BS

Alien
Is there anyway to disable all of the security BS in NTFS? I realise that it has its uses for some people, but I just want to use it on a spare HDD for its larger-than-4GB file limit feature. I fornatted the drive as NTFS, & it promptly created a System Volume Information folder.

remove startup task in win2k

tri6nguyen
How do i prevent certain application from running at window startup. I looked into startup folder, but it isn't there. Also, is there any utility like msconfig (in win98) that allows me to view/edit startup task without having to manually edit the registry.

Windows ME -> Windows 2K upgrade

mthaler
I am sure this has been asked before, but can't seem to find the info through searching. According to MS you can't upgrade Windows ME to Windows 2000, but I thought perhaps somebody has come up with a workaround besides doing a clean install, and therefore having to re-install all the other applications.

Primary Partition/Logical Partition Multi OS Question

dazz1973

Windows XP Dual Boot Configuration

deeman
G'day, I installed XP Pro a few months ago, apart from hardware/game incompatibilities, it's not 'too' bad. Because I've got alot've games that won't run under XP, I decided to install 98 on the system aswell, nothing flashy, just using the standard Dual Boot configuration.

Xp Too Slow

NormaCG
I bought a new IBM computer with Windows XP installed. I find it very slow starting up and very slow at launching programs. I spoke to IBM and they gave me a file to update the BIOS which I did. It has made some improvement but still not like it should be.
