Sorry &!*$# Dial up access

I'm on dial-up and usually connect at around 28. 8. A lot of times when I try to download a page that has a lot of images it appears as though IE tries to download all the images at once and can't so it gives up and I end up with a bunch of broken images.

Password and Shutdown Window has changed

I'm using XP Pro. When I initially installed it, I set it to log into Windows without a password screen. A couple of weeks ago when I had to reboot, it started up ans displayed a password screen that more resembles Windows NT.

Monitor Resolution

I can't seem to get my monitor above 1024x786 resloution. I have a Radeon 9000 Pro along with a Viewsonic monitor thats about a year and a half old. I could get higher resolutions using my old GeForce but can't do any better with this one.

Spyware

I just got the program Ad-ware 6 to find spyware stuff on my computer. I found about 88 and one of them seemed to show up a lot. I got a program called WebEnhancer in my program files. I don't know what that is but I'm pretty sure that's what's giving spyware.

Anyone have any info on WindowsPE? All I've found is. I thought I had heard or read that it would be included with Windows Server 2003. . . Did I imagine that?.

Multiple users on Win2k

I have a computer with Win2k Pro on it. It's for home use so security isn't all that important. . . might not even connect to the internet with it. I'm going to set up a couple user accounts, both as Administrators.

Idle Process

I'm confused as to what the idle process does. I was under the assumption that the idle process issues a HLT (halt) instruction when the CPU was no longer needed by another process. Then the idle process fired up the CPU again when another process needed it.

Dual Boot

Hi All Have a 80gig HD with 3 partitions. part1 2gig fat16, part2 20gig fat32, part3 remaining disk space fat32. Installed DOS 6. 22 on part1 restarted and it booted into dos ok, installed XP on part2 restarted but it does not give nme a dual boot option the contents of the boot.

Hide 'problem' devices in Device Manager?

In an effort to speed up my XP system I have been disabling unessary devices in the device manager, GUI now loads at 30secs from cold boot Now everytime I load device manager all the hardware and drivers I have disabled have the red crosses through them.

Windows xp Pro Explorer.exe memory

hi to all i have a problem. my explorer. exe file takes to much memory when i load up xp or do anything in the kernal. i need to know if there is a regestery tweak to disable or set a max amount of memory that is used by explorer.

to restore active windows

i mean: when i have some windows (of explorer) opened on my desktop and have shutdown or reboot computer than after boot there are no explorer windows on my desktop! i didn't change parameters like hibernate or sleep.
