The best defraggers for disks and registry

What's the best defragger under WinXP Pro for: -> hard disks -> the registry Are they worth running? I've tried Diskeeper 7. 0 but it wouldn't complete after hours and hours (40GB HDD about half full).

Unable to save new themes

Hi all, I am no llonger able to save any new themes I make in Windows XP. In the display properties, the Themes tab has a save as button; if i click it and navigate to anyplace on my computer (I have tested a ton of locations, all with the same result) and enter a name for the new theme, it does not get saved at all.

At present I have 3 accounts with administrator privilliges setup on my XP Pro machine. Two are manually created accounts and one is the original 'Administrator' account that is created by windows setup (but I have since renamed it).

I have one user at my log on screen and this user is not password protected. My machine would automatically log this user on until I installed some borland developement apps. Apparently the install process created another user.

Does anyone know what is wrong with the registry refresh rate fix solution provided on this site? I have followed the steps etc, and it really does set the correct refresh rate, but it messes all up.

Hello, Did anyone have a problem with systray not loading? in 2003 server standard I installed a few apps that were fine on xp but after the reboot the systray is gone, even starting it from command line doesn't help(it doesn't start).

Hello Fellow Techies, I have a slight problem. Here we go. I had Windows XP Home :x , and (well still have) I made a new partition on my 40gig drive and installed XP Pro. Now everytime it boots into Pro I get some kind of Video error and never get past the blue moving thing.

Does anyone know how to change the window font in WinXP? The one I mean is the one that is used inside explorer windows to label icons, etc. There is no GUI in Windows that allows it to be changed (as far as I can tell).

I want to overburn a CD-R with 700 MB capacity with a file which is 711 MB. I am using nero 5. 9. However, even after using the expert features and allowing overburning till 90 min. , I am still getting the message that there is not enough space on the CD-R.

for you that don't know what it is, it's an add-on PCI card, that will either enable you to run your HDDs at ATA100 mode, or enable you add another 4 HDDs on your system. But the damned thing doesn't tell your motherboard that your HDDs are reading/writing!.

Is there any way to run a batch file before the NT bootloader kicks in? I am dual boot boot linux and want to do something to the effect of if f:\linux. bin exists, move to c:\lniux. bin before the bootloader has the opportunity to load c:\linux.
