Hi Ive never experienced it before, but I have never heard about it either. I hate error/alert messages with sound, so the first thing I do when i install a clean windows is to disable all such sounds : control panel -> sounds and audio devices -> sounds, and select no sound theme.

Where is the data hiding in XP?

I just installed XP Pro into a 5GB partition and in practically no time at all, Windows is telling me that the space is virtually filled up. The funny thing is that when I take the sum total of all the folders in my C drive, it barely reaches 3GB.

I upgraded to xp pro and during the upgrade it said I needed a driver file which it couldnt find, I called microsoft and after talking for 3 hours he finally had me add a secondary operationg system.

I'm trying to correct a USB 2. 0 problem on my newly-formatted Win2KSP4 machine and, to help me decide how best to tackle it, I need to know which installed USB 2. 0 driver files should sit in Windows' system directory, in Win2KSP4.

Visual Basic 4 Out of Memory Problems

I am running two seperate executable files generated from VB4 code. The applications work on machines running win 2000 and xp. I have not tested on NT or server 2000. The applications will not run on Server 2003 or XP for Tablet PC 2005- the only other two OS's that I have access to.

Problems with Service Pack 2 to Windows XP

The service pack seemed to install properly and re-boot, and at the boot-up screen where Windows XP asked whether to turn 'automatic updates' on or off I chose off since I never want Windows to access the Internet without my permission.

How can I select a portion of the screen?

This seems like a bit of a dummy question to ask, but how can I 'marquee' a portion of any screen, in order to save it as an htm file? Any screen means either online or offline. In most offline situations, there are no menu bars from which you can select commands.

alright, so i got some tut off the net describing what i could do if i had BIOS to fix my memory issues. I came to realize that i dont have BIOS, i have CMOS or something. So i was trying to relate some of the thigns it was saying to do for BIOS on CMOS.

Hi, I hope you guys can help me. I am using win xp pro and I set up the admin password feature. I found out tonight when I tried to boot to safe mode, the password feature blocks me from getting to safe mode.

So I decided to re-install my XP pro. I formatted with ntfs, and go to install the OS. I get error, digiras. chm is not found It asks me if i want to continue with the setup or not, i click yes. I was wonderign what this file is/does because Im in fear that the file that is missing is the source of my problems prio ...

URGENT HELP NEEDED xp problem

Alright, i was having issues with my video and sound card and i did some reading up and i was instructed to add /pcilock on my boot. ini file. I did that and now when i turn on my computer it brings up the screen where you choose Safe Mode, Safe Mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, etc.

Prevent NT4 Workstations from joining W2K3 domain

I currently have a large W2K3-based domain. I'm in the process of retiring all NT servers and Workstations. I would like to prevent anyone from bringing up any new NT4 workstations or servers. I can't just restrict NTLMV2 because most people are already running SP6a.

Help needed in identifying USB driver in Win2KSP4

I now use Win2K with SP4. I've been having some problems trying to install a USB-based printer and a USB-based scanner. In particular, the scanner's driver refused to fully install and instead caused my machine to instantly re-boot when the Setup for it completed.

Hi I have a windows xp pro machine which is working OK and I have a broadband connection to the Internet. I want to host my own website in my own bedroom but I don't want to buy another machine. Can I install Apache, IIS etc on my existing machine and convert it into a webserver without damaging anything.

For some years I've resisted using Service Pack 4 on my Win2K machine but, stemming from a recent re-formatting of my hard disk, I've now installed it. Trouble is, I'm having a problem installing my Epson flatbed scanner, which is USB2.
