When we turned the computer on last night, the welcome screen contained no user icons. Does anyone have any suggestions? (windows XP Home) thx, Donna.

Windows was not able to process the application binding information (!?)

When trying to run most app's I get the message : Windows was not able to process the application binding information. Can this be resolved whilst still in the confines of Whistler Beta 1 (2296)? Anyone.

I hope I put this in the right place. A friend recently purchased a Dell with Windows XP. It won't let her install the original driver for her HP Scanjet 4100C scanner (keeps saying not compatible with XP, and can't bypass).

Im running xp. do i need sp2? if i visit windows update regularly and have downloaded all the updates for sp1 and i use a third party firewall, and antivirus do i really need sp2? my computer runs much better with sp1 but i will sacrifice a little for a more secure pc if sp2 is necessary.

Need help with virus

Ok, here's my situation. My computer has been infected with the Trojan Virus called Qhosts. apd according to McAfee. This occured when my computer restarted on its own automatically. When it booted back up, McAfee caught this virus and I press delete and it says successful in deleteing.

Scratchy Glitchey sound after installing Half Life 2

My son just installed the game Half Life 2 on a new Gateway laptop. Up until he installed the game, the sound was fine but now it is scratchey or glitchey. Any ideas as to what is causing this and how to correct it.

Accesing Files From A Different Xp Installation

Hey, can any 1 help me with this problem. I have 2 hard drvies both with windows xp installed but the 1 installation is from my other pc and it wont boot so i was wondering is there any way of getting to the files in my documents folder on the o/s that wont boot.

HELP!!! Laptop recovery

I tried to recover my laptop's harddrive and settings. It all goes fine until I get to when the files are being loaded. After a while something pops up that says ? Output A:\Ghost. err and has me select Yes or No.

Hey guys. I just installed the Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce 6600GT 128mb AGP yesterday so I could play Call of Duty 2 with better FPS. After upgrading it from my old FX5500 from MSI, It wouldn't boot up and couldn't detect the video card.

Install windows 98 over existing XP

I've tried booting and installing Windows 98 SE over and existing XP OS. It won't let me do this without going to DOS (I don't have the operators manual) Anyone know how this can be done?.
