Hi, whenever I check the I have about 4 or 5 svchost. exe running. Is this all fine or is there something wrong? I only have running on my other PC. .

Compaq 6110nx applications freeze

I was given a new laptop for work - Compaq 6110NX. We are wireless at work. I take it home to use on my wireless system and it connects with no problem to the internet. However, when I open an application such as Word, Excel, Photoshop, those programs freeze.

Compressed files on network share after IE7 upgd

Hi Wonder if anyone here can help me. Since upgrading to IE7 yesterday, every time I right-click or double-click on a compressed file (zip or rar) on my network shares results in a popup warning me of a potential security risk and asking if I want to continue.

computer logs me off at irregular intervals

my computer has been logging me off at random intervals. last night it started along with a few other problems so I decided to restore windows. The problem has persisted and after scanning for spyware/viruses/adware/spybots i've found nothing.

hey my wallpaper whenever windows starts it displays it for a minute then as soon as it loads the icons it disappears and never comes back. i changed no software or hardware recently. does this every time i start windows.

a friend gave my kids a computer but under system it shows registered to her. is there a way to change this without having to buy some kind of software or something? it's windows xp and i dont have a cd or anything.

computer wont stay on standby

When my computer goes on standby, it will only stay asleep for a couple minutes or so, then starts back up. If I turn off the DSL it will stay asleep. It is a HP computer, running XP. Any ideas ? Thanks.

doing file search crashes windows

when i try to do a file search, or even right click on the desktop, i get an error message and windows has to shut down. Have done many virus searches, have tried to work with the Shell-ex view. nothing seems to work for me.

Is there any way to run program with administrator privilege but without entering administator password each time I run it? I have some applications that need administrator privilege to run like hardware monitoring or games from popcap.

hi, wen i tried to run gpresult /v it had a line there that the GPO i created was filtered thats why it was never implemented. Only the Domain Controller policy was implemented. what should i do so that the GPO i created will not be filtered out?.

Possible to still get WinXP Pro?

Is it still possible, in the UK, to buy a straightforward copy of WinXP Pro? That's to say, without embedded SP2. I'm a 2K-user myself but am planning for the time when support for Win2K will have waned beyond redemption and where I'll need to invest in WinXP instead.
