Clean install from upgrade?

I'd like to do a clean install but my Compaq only came with a system backup disk. What can I do? I also have an upgrade version of Win 98 2nd edition if that helps. .

I have 2K server installed. I want to install ME, because I it was free, and I want to see if my vid. card looks better in ME. I will install to C:, the same as 2K. Problem: When I try to install ME, it says, There is already an OS installed, please exit setup.

1. After rebooting from setup of Liveware 3 it would lockup upon trying to install the gameport joystick. Had to disable it to boot into windows. 2. Upon installation of Iomegaware, it locks up. When rebooted into windows, the drive is recognized and works, but the software will not install.

I own two HDs, the one with Win2k installed and the other with Win98. Is it worth to upgrade the second HD from Win98 (First Edition) to WinME ? I only use Win98 to play games and watch DVD movies. In games will the performance be increased? Will I have any gains from that upgrade?.

i Have a full ver. ME. . and i get the errormessage. U CANT UPGRADE with this copy. . GET THE UPGRADE. I once read a trick. to do this with 98. . Well i forgot it. and doesnt even know if it works with ME.

Sorry, I'm asking a question about Windows ME. I've installed a copy of Windows ME (final), but I'm not sure if I can install Tweak UI from Windows 98 as well as the Regclean? I'll need Tweak UI pretty bad as I have a separate drive for all my IE favorites.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, why is it so difficult for Microsoft to provide a utility on both the Win 2K and ME cd that creates a basic MS DOS boot disk which will allow users to update their bios? It seems like a simple thing to me so why don't they just do it instead of saying there will be a pro ...
