DOSfreak!? - DOS Questions under Windows 95a

What can I do to increase data transfer over a small 8 system network. We are using a DOS based database program with 7 Windows 95 machines (The program seems to run faster on 95) and the database is stored on an NTFS partition on our Win2K Pro (Acting as our server) A couple other questions.

Dual boot with ME installed second?

I installed Win2k first on C, then WinME on F. However it doesnt give me the option to choose on boot up it just goes to WinME. I can access all partitions while in WinME, but I cant boot to Win2k. Is there a way without a 3rd party program? Ive tried Boot Magic 2.

I jut recently installed Office 2K Pro. When I set up Outlook 2K it does not recognise me as being connected to the net and gives me the error Unable to open your default mail profile, would you like to open the default folders instead, if I say yes it acts as though it is Windows Explorer, if I say no it closes.

Need to uninstall Windows Media Player 7

On one of my work computers running Win98SE, Windows Media Player corrupted itself. I try to uninstall it, but the uninstaller crashes every time (nice job Gates). Re-installation does not fix the problem.

I have had some trouble with a resident file in winme. When ctfmon. exe is loaded I coundnt start my dvd player (dxr3 from creative) I have used msconfig. exe to disable the file from starting up. But i dont know what the funktion of the file was.

Hard drive question

I have fixed this problem before but been a long time. Reloading an old box with Win98 this box has a WD hard drive with that stupid EZ bullcrap on it. I booted to a floppy and fdisked,formated and then let Win98 take over.

We are using 5 Windows 95 workstations and a Windows 2000 server at my work place. The windows 95 systems are the original win 95 release. We don't have any service packs, and are not using version a, b, or c, just the original.

I feel kinda silly asking THIS in THIS forum, since i don't use Win9x based systems, but whatever, just for general culture, what's the limit of pc's that i can connect to a workgroup based on win98?, and i mean without a dedicated server or any NT OS; just a group of pc's connected to a HUB or a Switch.

ok, i have a mates win 98 (not se) laptop and whenever it boots an internet explorer window opens and trys to connect to the web ! Pain in the. . . . . . i can't see anything in the startup or in msconfig! any ideas thanks Frog.

98 Refuses to display webpages, Help!

(98SE on a Dell 233MHz Laptop) This machine is on an office network with DSL. The DSL is spilt to 10 stations via a router. This laptop was working fine for a couple weeks. Then the user put Sprint ISP on there for when he was not at the office.
