hi i tried downloading adwares, but somehow it always returns (canada. exe) i go to WINDOWS/sys32 to delete it but when i restart, there it is again on my desktop. how do i get to the root of this? it is very annoying and i get this pop-up from ads1.

marquee text I accidentally reinstalled XP again and now have it twice on the computer. When starting up I have to select the correct partition I would really like to remove the second installation but am not sure how to and also how to locate it to remove it.

Hi i was wondering if anyone can help me with my computer. Everytime i go on the internet explorer, i have the annoying search sidebar popping up. Everytime i go to close it it always comes back up when i go to a different site or when i open a link in the same window.

CD Burner Help!!

Using Hewlett Packard, Windows ME The computer i'm using has a burner install internally so my cd-drive is the burner. Now i cannot burn any Cds for some reason. I'm using Nero Burning ROM v6 but it comes with a burning software too called Easy Creater 4 Here's the log: Windows 98 4.

I like to play games on Pogo, lately it has been shutting down my browser in the middle of a game. It is mostly a java run site. I usually use Mozilla Firefox as a browser, but it does the same thing when I use IE.

I am running windows 98 on one of my computers and I'm getting an error message stating: exlporer caused an invalid page fault in module explorer. exe at 015:00401f31. I have no icons on the desktop no start menu and if I do ctrl+alt+del there is nothing in the box all I see is my background picture.

OK I have a laptop that I run 98se on (i'm very comfortable with 98se) I a drive with alot of files on it about 270gb of files. But the issue is that the drive is a NTFS file system. And as we well know.

what is Thumbs.db file?

in most of my folders i have a file named Thumbs. db. what is this file? i've never noticed this file before. is it a virus? i've tried deleting them before but they somehow do not get removed and remain there.

CD Drive not detected in Win98

i recently installed win98 on C Drive. then i installed direct X 8. 1. after installtion when i restarted my PC, i got a Dxdllreg error. TO VIEW THE PIC CLICK ON THE FOLLOWING LINK (the one on the right) also when i tried to read a cd i discovered that my system was not detecting a Cd Drive.

i have upgraded my sound driver - Crystal cs4281 from Driver. com. when i right view my Hardware Profile, there is nothing wrong with my sound card ( there is no yellow explamatiom mark against it). still i cannot hear any sound.

Hey all. Hope you all had a good weekend! I wish i could say the same! Here's my little problem! My PC is playing stupid with me a lot lately, so i Fdisk'd it and re-formatted my hard drive, and put on Win 98 Second Edition onto it (its an old pc!), via the flat-insatllation technique, with dos.

Hi. On my LAN I have a WIN98SE computer, and a JetDirect printerserver 500X. My other Windows and Linux computers can print to my 2 printers via the printerserver, but I can't get the win98se to see the printerserver.

I formated my old pc and I am tryin to install win98se. Problem is I have a set up disc specifically for RM machines and when the CD tries to begin the install I get an error message: This is not an RM machine, press Q to quit.
