Best practices for AD over multiple sites

At the moment, the network I work on is divided between the head office and several remote sites. All of these sites connect to the head office via VPN over ADSL. Most of these sites have their own 2000 servers on site as well.

Need help setting up VPN with Windows 2000 Server

I'm going :x trying to set up a VPN on my Windows 2000 server. I'm currently running WinRoute Pro 4. 2 on the server. I'm thinking that maybe WinRoute is causing some trouble. When I do try to connect from my Laptop, it doesn't work.

NT to 2000 server

I would like to migrate our network from NT server to Win2000 server. Since I am not fully verse with AD yet can I upgrade to 2000 using local. domain. com just within our network only. We have internet access that we use for email and website.

Pulling my hair out because I thought this would be easy. Boy was I wrong. Here goes my setup: Installed 2 NICs, both with IPs setup properly Went into the registry in enabled Ip Forwarding, and a ipconfig /all reports Ip forwarding as yes.

I'm curiuos as to why large company uses the dot instead of dash for user email (name. lname@xx. com) Is that a restriction of their web server where the _ is a reserve character? I have friends with emails using the dot scheme.

Slow boot-up, need to disable networking

I have a Dell 8200 running windows 2000 professional. I am no longer on a network and only use my computer as a stand alone home based computer. I've disabled the network card but when windows boots up, it takes forever to load because it is loading network stuff.

Interesting. . . . A first thought I am thinking of modifying local ARP tables. APK you got me into doing a GOOGLE on this one. **EDIT** Wouldnt it be easier just to mail you a PIX firewall **EDIT2** Scratch the ARP notion.

Tape drive

Hello all, I'm hoping some of you admin will be able to help me out. I am looking into a bigger tape drive for work. Currently we have a Sony DDS-3 (12/24) drive and it work great. Unfortunately our storage will outgrow the tape in about a month or so.
