We are running a Windows 2000 Active Directory domain here at work. Until two days ago I was using a Windows 2000 Workstation. I had the adminpak. msi package installed from the Windows 2000 server CD which gives me loads of Administrative options from my workstation for the domain.

One user on our NT domain sometimes shows up in server manager with many excel files open as soon as he logs on, when in fact he has not opened any of these files. It's not consistentsometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't.

I am controlling my Win2K pro machine from my Linux laptop with VNC which is less than responsive due to the nature of rfb's implementation (polling, guesswork and bitmapped display). I know RDP (aka terminal services / remote desktop) is a lot faster, and I have an I can use.

Large temp folders in roaming profiles

On our NT 4. 0 network, we use roaming profiles. Some of the user profiles have a temp folder, and these can get very large (up to 1 GB), all of it junk, which makes for very slow logon. Other profiles do not have temp folder at all.

How does the following network behaves in different situations? machine 1 NIC binded to IPX/NETBIOS and Microsoft network client, no TCP/IP binding. A dialup adaptor binded to TCP/IP, but not to IPX/NETBIOS, and not to Mcrosoft network client.

situation i have win2k3 with ics as my main network server it is connected to cable modem and has private ip address of 192. 168. 0. 1 i have another server 192. 168. 0. 2 on teh private network i setup a dynamic dns service on the main server so i can get to it over the internet without needing to know what the ip is.

Hey, just wondering if anyone could help me with this problem. I Windows XP (SP3) my download speeds gets to around 120k/sec (which is normal, i am using 1mbit cable) but then suddenly drops, sometimes raises again then suddenly drops again.
