ive been using my hosts file to block bad stuff. For example I have blocked by routing to 127. 0. 0. 1 I would like to route *. baddomain. com to 127. 0. 0. 1 I tried this with a ping hgjtdgvje.

I'm not sure if there is a limit or not, but perhaps it's more an issue with DUN then anything else I would test the limit theory by renaming the hosts file and then opening this renamed file and then copying and pasting say half the entries into a newly created hosts file.

I used to do things easily with poledit but now I can't achieve it with gpedit. What I want: I have users. About 400 hundreds of them. They belong to different groups. Each group should get their own desktop and startup menu but each user should also have his own home directory, using windowsXP(pro) workstations.

Hi all, i have a realy wired problem: I installed the SP1 and Norton AV on a PC with WinXP Prior to the SP1 installation the internet connection was fine, but I hade some other minor troubles. After the installation, the PC worked realy well except the internet connection doesn't work.

WEP setup in WinXP networking

I configured a WEP key on my router. My 2 computers running WinXP (pre-SP1 plus all updates that don't have SP1 as a pre-req) have no problem connecting. But the computer that is running all the latest updates (SP1 + the rollup fixes, plus all other critical updates, etc), cannot connect.

Hi all, I've just installed Exchange server on to a windows 2000 server box, and I cant seem to find out how you setup exchange to get the emails from my ISP's pop3 account. Am I missing something? Or am I just special? I’d like an answer either way.

I can't start the messenger service on my XP Pro SP1 machine, keep getting error message 2280 (and the ms kb was of no help). I don't understand what's gone wrong. 1. I checked the. inf file which installs the service and made sure that all the necessary files and registry entries were present.

I have a Windows 2k3 box and several client computers in my home network, which take an age to log into the network. Its normally around 10 minutes to progress beyond the applying personal settings notification.

(I'm using WinXp. ) We have two 512/512 broadband connections to our apartment. I'd like to connect both to my better XP box to get the whole capacity used as we pay for it anyway. One connection would be plugged to onboard LAN connector and ther other to a PCI network card.

Is there any known issues with UDP performance on Winodws XP? We have an application which downloads data from two sources, one of which uses UDP, the other TCP. The TCP portion of the download works fine but the portion downloaded via UDP slows down and eventually fails.
