Slow downloads and loss of network after MS Sasser Patch

I cant access the network anymore (i think its got to do with the new Microsoft patch for the sasser worm) unless I turn off ZoneAlarm. My BT downloads have become slower as well (with or without the firewall).

DNS resolution

All, I am having a problem with DNS resolution, here is the setup. I have 3 app servers behind a cisco load balancer. The url that the IP resolves to resolves to the load balancer. I have sites all over the world who access the server 24/7.

LAN Configuration - "hiding" a PC

I need help with a LAN config question. 4PCs on a CAT5 LAN, plus one wireless notebook, all running XP. Also hanging off the LAN is the internet gateway, and one server running Win2K for file/print sharing (and old PII box(!); I am considering converting it to Linux) Here is the scoop.

Does anyone know where I could find a good article with steps on how to setup a Win2000 server (not advanced), DNS, DHCP, AD to work with about 25 XP Pro machines and 40 win98 machines. I would like the XP machines to be profileless ie.

WinXP Home: Temp Account Issues

For some reason, when we turn our WinXP machine on here at work, it won't reconnect to 2 mapped drives and a networked printer, but only when we log in under the TEMP account. Is there an issue with naming an account temp? The other accounts work fine.

Hello there. . . What is the difference between - \\domain\sharedfolder and - \\computername\sharedfolder where domain is Windows 2003 server domain and computername is the name of the same computer.

Hi Guys, I do alot of workstation ghosting. We currently use NT4 workstation to satify our business needs. We are see some applications are dropping NT4 support and we will probably need to move to XP or 2003 in the near future.

Win2k / XP Drive Map problem

I have users that were recently migrated from NT4 to Win2k and XP. They are trying to access a remote share on a Win NT 4 server using a domain account that has rights to the share. Problem. . . a user account that works fine from an NT workstation will not work on a 2000/xp workstation.
