Intel 915 GAV mobo LAN card problem

I have Intel 915 GAV mobo with 3. 0Ghz 800mhz FSB HT Processor 256 Mb DDR 400mhz RAM and 160+40 GB HDD I was running my LAN on RTL 8029AS PCI card which is 10 mb card and the max LAN transfer speed i could attain was 1 mbps up/down I shifted to Dlink 538 TX recently which is 10/100 mb card.

I want to get a laptop and i want it to be wireless. We already have one wireless laptop but i want my own. I was just wondering what all i need and what would be a good laptop for around $400. And would it cost anymore for two computers to use the internet on the same wireless thing.

XP - Release/Renew and DHCP issue

Installed Norton AV and deleted viruses and adware. Internet access and Network access became unavailable. Cannot receive a new IP address, (Auto Detect enabled). Ipconfig /release works but /renew does not.

how to install windows xp pro oem over xp home oem

I have a new 3200 dollar gateway laptop that came with xp home oem, I since purchased a legal package of xp pro oem,but in no way can I install it with out dumping the hard drive, Did I waste my money? If there is a work around please advise.

Windows 2003 (Standard) / no Network

Hi there I hope somebody can help me, I just upgraded my Windows 2000 advanced server to windows 2003 (standard). Since the upgrade I am not able to use mu Realtek 8139 Network Card does not comunicate anymore.

Mapped Drives: Failed to Reconnect at Boot-up

NOt sure what causes this problem, but over time I have seen it happen at some time or another on every machine I have and run. Basically, mapped drives fail to reconnect when the machine boots up, BUT they reconnect fine the minute you open explorer and open the drive; thus, it is not a password issue or a permiss ...

hi, im sure many of you have seen this problem a few times now but its new to me. I have 2 computers on a lan in my room, both run xp home but on has decided to not recive a ip address from the router (or from the dsl modem itself) it gives me an ip number of 169.

My school has a very annoying firewall. Even some parts of this site are blocked! I'm on the school computer right now so i'm not sure if this is going to work. I love this game called runescape but the firewall blocked it.

Explorer not showing Mapped Drives

I have a problem with mapped drives on a customer's machine that I am working with. Maybe someone has seen this before? Commentary: All workstations at this customer's location are loaded with Windows XP Pro and are members of a NT4.

SQL throught SMC Barricade Router

I am trying to set up a way to connect a remote office to a SQL database being run on a workstation that is used to collect data from GPS devices to track drivers. The local lan has the machine with the SQL workstation and one client that captures the info and passes it to the database just fine.

sharing of an intrnet connection

hi, with two computers, with system operational XP, has succeeded in sharing a internet connection. The strange thing is that for the remote connections (fram internet) if I leave the function Firewall connetions on the host computer it is not allow to download from consumers internet.

Need help just installed wireless carbus...

just installed wireless cardbus adapter to a local area network and have good signal with 11mbps speed, all systems seem go. But when I open internet explorer page cannot be displayed. What is wrong? Worked previously on same laptop with dial up modem, but not now.

Hello, i have setup a machine here with windows xp home, and we are using it as a server where 6 people will access files througout the day from the server. now when i go into a command prompt and type net server config it tells me that maximum logged on users is 5.
