ntfs and defragmentation

ok heres my problem,i have to run defrag at least once a week now or my whole drive is all over the place,heres my questions: 1. isnt ntfs spose to be less defrag prone than fat 2. and could this problem be the drive itself causing this? any help will be appreciated thanx, harlock.

Just downloaded the new Application Compatibility Toolkit 2. 5 from the link on the front page ( ) and apparently it seems to require Windows 2000 SP3. Oh well. .

DVD Playback is strange

Well gang here goes nothing!! I'm using PowerDVD 4, The drive in Question is a Pioneer DVD-106S Drive. The DVD Playback is strange in that it seems to be missing a few frames or frames get blurred together for a second.

Full image system hard drive backups

I am looking for a quick, affordable and easy to use software that will make full image system backups of my hard drives to CD. Have dabbled with hard drive backups using tape drives and even some where one has to tote around a spare blank drive for backup purposes.

XP forgets about "Always On Top"

I've just started having this problem recently. When I boot up, everything is working fine, and then after, so many minutes of use, XP will begin forgetting that some applications (eg. Winamp) are supposed to be ON TOP.

Lost my CD-ROM drives in My Computer!

My hard drive is having issues; Direct CD stopped loading on startup. Tried patching to v5. 1, but that didn't help. Uninstalled Roxio, and on reboot, I couldn't access either of my CD drives. They don't even show up in My Computer.

ZoneAlarm with IIS under Windows 2000 Server

Is it a good idea to throw ZoneAlarm on Windows 2000 Server? Would it interfere IIS? I would also like to know if there's a way to block IP addresses in IIS? I know how to do it to individual site but I want something to apply to all sites.

IE 6 Problems- Please Help

Hi all, i hope someone can help me out. I have Windows XP Pro installed with IE6 and a NTL Cable Modem. Protecting the system i have Norton Personnel Firewall and IE seetings are set to medium. On 60% of all websites i get a cannot find server message.

Problem w/ Norton AnitV 2000 v. 6.0

Until this morning, we have successfully used Norton AntiVirus 2000 ver. 6. 0. This afternoon however, when we attempted to do a Live Update, the system stalled about 1/3 of the way through the initial Update Screen, the screen where Live Updates checks to see what updateable programs or utilities are on your system.

Some lags with Menu & Favorites

Using XP Pro, 512MB DDR. Menu Delay set to 0, but somehow I feel the computer is slow displaying the menu or favorites. I know my Favorites are quite complex with possibly 1000 links arranged in a many folders and sub-folders, but it's still too slow compared to Win98SE with the same Favorites structure.

Im running the file sharing program Kazaa, that Im sure you are all aware of. Now everytime I have it running even if Im not connected or downloading anything the program uses 99% of my cpu time. This slows down my comptuer so much that I cant do anything else on it.

I just read the virus thread and thought i would separate the 2 different discussions going on there. I favor Norton Corporate Edition because it seems to have been the least trouble for me on many machines (me being an OEM and all).

Hi. I don't know when this started or why but my system crashes fairly frequently. . . seemingly in a random fashion. The problem is there are NO error messages. Nothing is written to the event viewer logs.
