Setting up POP mail account in Opera & Netsacpe

I have a mail account with Verizon DSL but they don't support Opera or Netscape V6. 2 (only V4. 73). I'm confused between the damn acronyms used in POP mail (pay, non web based or whatever you want to call it).

Disk Checker Question for XP

Hello all, Is there any Disk Checker/Fixer software that can actually fix disk errors without rebooting or simply asking me to run chkdsk /f? I have used Norton and Ontrack SystemSuite, and both, when they find a disk error, tell you to run the chkdsk command in Windows to repair it.

Hello there. . . Whenever my Explorer or Internet Explorer stops responding, I kill it and run it again. Then everything works okay, but I am missing some of my Tray Icons, for example Norton Antivirus' Autoprotect icon.

Quick XPee question....

I just installed XPee to give it a try and discovered it's purdy nice I was looking in the Task Manager and seen several instences of SVCHOST. EXE running, I took a screenie, maybe someone can tell me why as I dont rember seeing this in 2k.

Where are the error logs in 2k?

I look through event viewer to find error logs that come up in the O/S (not other programs) but can't find them in event viewer. Where are they???? 2k w/SP2.

Hi, I just installed C&C Red Alert on my WINXP box and it went fine as long as it was run in Win95 compat mode, is there a piece of software that'll enable me to run things in win95 compat mode on my WIN2K box? Any URL's would be appreciated as the MS site doesn't like me

When I put any music CD (retail or burned) into either my CDROM (Y:\) or DVDROM (Z:\), Winamp & Media Player both refuse to play it; >Winamp just says (2,3,. . . . ) >Media Player just tells me it's an unknown format Both drives can read data & game CD's just fine.

i downloaded the trial version of nav 8. 0 and everytime i try to install it is says not compatible but the i downloaded it from major geeks and they said it was compatible to all windows. so i hope i didn't download 27 megs for nothing.

Ntbackup backs up when it wants...

For the most part, ntbackup has been working great in backing up our network drive. Every once in a while, it won't backup. There are no errors in my event log, and no backup log gets generated in my backup log folder.

how do I take off screen saver lock delay?

you know in WinXP when the screen saver goes on, you have a few seconds to move the mouse, after that the computer will lock (if you have that set), but if you move the mouse right after it goes on it does not lock.

Dual 2k drives imaged w/ Ghost 2nd drive won't boot

I really don't know just how to explain this. I have 2 bootable drives with 2k on each. The second is a image of the first done using Ghost. I've done this before, but this time the drives are hooked up to a Highpoint controller which, I assume is causing the problem.

voice-activated WinXP sys lock-up

Anyone got anything (or know of) to activate the lock in WinXP (basically, the Win button + L) by voice activation. I have friends that seem to want to mess with my comp when I am doing something, and it'd be really cool to just say something like computer lock outloud and have the system lock it self.

hey. . . i'm running a dual boot Win Me/XP on separate partitions. is defragmenting the xp partition from win me (norton speed disk) can be harmful ??. . . . i'm asking because the defragmentation process is SOOO much faster under win me.
