Intel has begun offering a training class to channel customers, directly targeting rival AMD's new policy of emphasising model numbers over clock speeds. The class charges that AMD's Athlon XP 2000+ chip does not live up to its model number ranking.

USBNews.net has posted some news of the first USB 2.0 Web Cam

USB 1.1 web cams are very popular, but they have always had a significant drawback—throughput. The current USB 1.1 is only 12 megabits per second, and that’s a huge problem if you are trying to do 30 frames per second, or full sized pictures (640 x 480 resolution), or full color. Compression helps a little, but in the end, you sacrifice quality.

Enter the iBOT2. The world’s first USB 2.0 based web cam from Orange Micro. It has 40 times the throughput as today’s USB 1.1 web cams. The iBOT2 runs at 30 frames per second, 640 x 480 resolution, millions of colors uncompressed and all at the same time. The quality of iBOT video is a quantum leap over current USB 1.1 web cams because of a 4000% increase in bandwidth.

Noticing that older material was starting to drop from the web, we decided to undertake this task before much of it disappeared altogether. We have written the article as a timeline, following the unfolding events year by year as marked by the various press releases. We hope that the article produced will act as a useful point of reference for past events and their significance in the overall story. Why not take a nostalgic trip down memory lane :):

Thanks USBMan for this one:

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, (CPSC), Longwell Electronics, of Brea, Calif., is voluntarily recalling about 2.5 million power cord sets sold with inkjet printers from Hewlett-Packard Company. The connector can break, exposing electrical contacts and posing a shock hazard to consumers.

The gray, two-wire power cord sets with a LS-7C connector were sold with the following HP printers: HP Deskjet 800 series and 900 series, HP Photosmart 1000 series, 1100 series, 1200 series, and 1300 series inkjet printers. The name Longwell is molded on the plug between the blades.
