and maybe the intel channel targetting ( don't know the actual name, but eg. mp3 player -> channel 1 -> speakers. games -> channel 2 -> headphones)

that would actually be a new creative card worth buying then (the first for 3-4 years?), as long as their driver support improves significantly.
